Josie Conner's professional breakaway roping career only began last year, but her success began long before that. She's a National High School Champion, won a Bob Fist All-Girl Challenge, Jr. NFR, and she keeps it all.
Connor's parents both rodeoed and life has shaped up for them as they have been able to travel with Connor down the road.
“They took me almost everywhere last year. I grew up in the field, in the practice pen with my dad, and I followed in those footsteps. I have always loved horses and I love this art. I never thought I’d go the other way… it’s what I’ve loved for a long time,” Connor said.
Although he wanted to be a barrel racer for a split second and his father didn't want him to work for the rodeo for another split second, he now travels the country, with his father, as he competes in the fastest events on dirt.
Conner said that at every stage of this game, he had challenges and he had to figure it out. He chalks it up to being timid at first, but competing is fun and once he figures it out, he dominates. He has dominated the WPRA, WCRA and continues to perfect his craft.
